Partners for Affordable Housing invites large employers, nonprofits and civic organizations in Central Oregon to join diverse coalition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bend, Ore, Dec. 4, 2024–Partners for Affordable Housing announced today that the new regional coalition has adopted a shared vision, mission, values and strategic priorities, and is now issuing a call for new partners ready to lend their voices to advocating for housing solutions across Central Oregon.

Partners for Affordable Housing initially came together to hold a Bend City Council Housing Forum in September, then spent the fall working through a collaborative input process to establish a long-term framework for the organization. The group’s mission is to develop and advocate for bold solutions that increase housing supply and lower housing costs across Central Oregon.

Groups already involved in Partners for Affordable Housing include Bend Chamber, Bend Police Association, Bend YIMBY, Central Oregon Association of REALTORS, Central Oregon Builders Association, Oregon Nurses Association and RootedHomes. The groups recognize that housing continues to be out of reach for nurses, teachers and first responders profoundly impacting our community and workforce’s ability to thrive.

“This diverse coalition believes in the power of bringing unusual bedfellows together to elevate the need for bolder action on the housing crisis,” said Karl Dinkelspiel of RootedHomes, a founding member of Partners for Affordable Housing. “Our hope is that other large employers, civic organizations, unions, and groups that represent impacted populations such as seniors, veterans and low-income families will join with us so together we can amplify our call for new solutions to lowering the cost of housing and increasing supply.”

Partners pledge to support the coalition in three ways:

  • Adding their logo and name to the website and shared advocacy efforts

  • Providing input on advocacy priorities if desired

  • Sharing coalition education and advocacy materials if desired

The coalition’s next step will be to hold a policy advocacy workshop from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Organizations interested in exploring becoming a member of Partners for Affordable Housing should visit www.partnersforaffordablehousing.com to learn more about the coalition’s vision, mission and values.

Partners interested in joining the coalition should fill out this partner interest form by Friday, Jan. 10 to ensure participation in the upcoming policy advocacy workshop.
