JOIN US FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING CANDIDATE FORUMS IN 2026!

 KEEPING HOUSING AFFORDABILITY FRONT AND CENTER THIS ELECTION YEAR!

Partners for Affordable Housing will host a four-part candidate forum series in 2026, called Housing is a Math Problem, providing a high-visibility opportunity for candidates to articulate policy positions and ideas for addressing our region's top challenge: low housing production and high housing costs.

The Housing is a Math Problem candidate forum series offers a nonpartisan deep dive into the policies and approaches that candidates believe can change the cost and production equation and lead to the greatest impacts in solving our housing crisis. 

 

The four-part series aims to offer the following events:

  • Deschutes County Commission Candidate Forum

    • 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Open Space Event Studios in Bend

    • Candidates who had raised $1,000 or more by March 1 were invited to participate

    • Register here

  • Gubernatorial Candidate Forum

    • Tina Kotek, Ed Diehl, Christine Drazen, and Chris Dudley have been invited to participate pending results from the May 19 primary. 

    • Proposed for Late May/Early June

  • Bend Mayor and Bend City Council Candidate Forum

    • Mid-September

  • Redmond City Council Candidate Forum

    • Late September​

 

Each event will be emceed by Central Oregon Daily News (KOHD) with questions provided by Partners for Affordable Housing members. The gubernatorial forum will be hosted in the Central Oregon Daily News studio and broadcast during primetime from 7-8 p.m. The other three events will be free and open to a live public audience, with a recording provided on Central Oregon Daily News’ website and also on the Partners for Affordable Housing website.
